SBN Kids party was held at Damolgo Primary School during school hours. This is to make the kids attend school and take their learning very seriously. Most of the kids drop out of school and others do not like to go to school regularly and will often absent themselves and go to the market squares to do menial jobs or they will go and engage in surface gold mining. We spent an hour with the kids in their school and we had a discussion with the School staff regarding the little interventions that can be put in place to keep the kids in school regularly. It was great for all of us especially having fun with the kids who were happier and also the wonderful and hardworking staff of the school.
We later presented a weaving machine to Victoria, a fabric-weaving apprentice. Victoria was earlier enrolled into an apprenticeship and has since been learning without the weaving machine, but using her madam’s. She now has her own machine and is excited to learn freely.
We had wonderful guests; Christopher Aniah Roger Jnr (Engineer), Mavis Lariba (News Anchor Dreams FM), and Queen Zamboukmah Rahel (2nd Runner-up Happy Man Bitters Miss Upper East) Each of them advised the kids on their School going attitude and leaving a hygienic lifestyle. The kids were also cautioned to feel free to confront their teachers and guardians on issues relating to their adolescent experiences & health issues.
